Join Our Internship Training Program

Join the inclusive community at Affirming You as a social work or mental health counseling intern.

Choosing the right internship training and support can make a big impact on your long-term career. If you enjoy learning, value ethical and culturally attuned care, and want to be part of a supportive team, Affirming You may be the right fit for you.

Our internship training program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in clinical direct practice with a focus on LGBTQ+ and neurodiversity-affirming care. Throughout your internship, you'll receive training from experienced clinicians with diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, supporting your growth both personally and professionally.

Our Mission

At Affirming You Therapy, we are dedicated to providing compassionate, trauma-informed mental health care to diverse genders, sexualities, cultures, and neurotypes. Our mission is to create an inclusive and affirming space where every client feels understood, respected, and empowered to heal and thrive. As an intern, you'll play a meaningful role in bringing this mission to life.

What You'll Learn

As an intern at Affirming You, you'll build foundational skills in social work ethics, clinical documentation, assessments and treatment planning, insurance billing, community building, and case management.

You'll also have the opportunity to:

  • Work with a small caseload of individual clients

  • Co-facilitate group therapy sessions alongside our experienced clinical staff

  • Participate in community outreach events

  • Engage in dynamic clinical staff meetings with a diverse team of professionals

Compensation

To recognize your dedication, each intern accepted into our training program receives a stipend per individual and group session completed.
